Robert Cobert: Haunting Melodies From The Master Of TV Terror (CD)

Our ongoing collaboration with Notefornote Music continues with this special Halloween collection featuring themes and cues composed by Robert Cobert for his famous horror TV movies and television series.

Robert Cobert is a composer whose extensive career spans television and film. He is perhaps best known for his acclaimed work on the television miniseries The Winds of War and War and Remembrance. Together, the scores for these two productions comprise one of the longest musical scores ever written for a film or television production.

Cobert first gained widespread recognition for his groundbreaking music for the classic supernatural soap opera Dark Shadows. He also composed the scores for the 1972 television movie The Night Stalker and its sequel, The Night Strangler. These productions served as the pilots for the popular television series Kolchak: The Night Stalker.

Beyond his film and television scoring, Cobert made a significant mark as a composer of game-show themes, particularly for programs produced by Goodson-Todman Productions and Bob Stewart Productions. Among his best-known themes are To Tell the Truth, Password, Blockbusters, The $25,000 Pyramid, Your Number’s Up, and Chain Reaction.

Cobert also composed music for several daytime television programs, including the NBC soap opera The Doctors, on which he worked for many years, as well as ABC’s The Young Marrieds. His television credits also include the 1980–1981 CBS reality series That’s My Line.

With a career encompassing horror, drama, daytime television, game shows, and large-scale television epics, Robert Cobert remains one of the most distinctive and prolific composers in American television history.

This collection has been requested by fans and we aim to make this available on CD as well as on digital services.  Limited to just 500 copies, this CD is expected to arrive and begin shipping the week of October 19.
